At MGM Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, MotionSpan completed a comprehensive service and inspection of approximately 100 Hufcor operable partition panels standing about 24 feet tall. The two-week project combined root-cause diagnosis, carrier replacement, track cleaning and alignment, and on-site fabrication of complex H-, T-, and L-joints.

Project overview

A Complete Restoration for a Complex Hufcor System

MotionSpan was brought in to resolve recurring carrier failures in the large Hufcor operable partition system at MGM Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. The system includes roughly 100 panels, each standing about 24 feet tall. Over two weeks, our team inspected and serviced the complete system, including the track, carriers, joints, wall alignment, and overall operation, to restore smooth and reliable performance.

Existing condition

A contaminated track and recurring carrier failure

When MotionSpan began its inspection, our technicians found that petroleum jelly had previously been applied inside the aluminum track in an effort to improve panel movement. Worn and damaged carriers had also produced aluminum shavings, which became trapped in the lubricant and compacted into an abrasive buildup. Instead of improving movement, the resulting residue acted like sandpaper inside the track and contributed to repeated nylon-carrier failures.

Work performed

Diagnosing the cause, then rebuilding the operating path

Rather than replacing only the failed parts, MotionSpan addressed the entire operating system. Our team removed and realigned the operable walls, thoroughly cleaned the contaminated overhead track, and replaced the broken and worn carriers. We also removed damaged track sections and custom-fabricated the required H-, T-, and L-joints on site. Once the repairs were complete, we tested and aligned each wall to ensure the systems operated smoothly.

Operating environment

Servicing approximately 100 panels standing 24 feet tall

Servicing approximately 100 panels standing about 24 feet tall required careful access to the overhead track, controlled panel handling, and coordinated sequencing across the ballroom system. MotionSpan completed the work over approximately two weeks and tested the wall systems after service and alignment.

Project result

Field-fabricated joints kept the repair moving

Rather than asking the client to order factory-made components from overseas, MotionSpan fabricated the necessary H-, T-, and L-joints on site at Beau Rivage. This practical solution kept the project moving, reduced additional parts costs, and avoided a lengthy wait for delivery. It’s the kind of field problem-solving that comes from years of experience with complex operable-wall systems. It means finding and fixing the real issue instead of repeatedly replacing failed parts.
